In the harsh environment of coal coking production, where workers face extreme temperatures, coal dust, and massive steel machinery, Risun Group is leading a technological revolution. As the world’s largest coke production supplier, Risun Group has partnered with AsiaInfo to implement a groundbreaking 5G private network solution that’s reshaping their operations.

At the heart of coke production are the “Five Major Vehicles” – specialized machines running on rails that include coal charging cars, coke pushing cars, coke quenching cars, coke-barrier cars, and fume guiding cars. These enormous machines, stretching tens of meters in height and length, previously relied on Wi-Fi networks that proved inadequate for their sophisticated needs. The low bandwidth and unstable signals hindered the company’s vision for automation and digital advancement.

Enter AsiaInfo’s custom-built 5G private network solution, deployed at Risun Group’s flagship facility in Inner Mongolia Risun Zhongran Park. This innovative system supports seamless industrial connectivity across terminals and enables crucial functions like position detection, furnace number recognition, automatic shaping, alignment, and interlocking control. Notably, it achieved China’s first successful “hot switch” between 5G and Wi-Fi networks in the coal coking sector.

The results have been remarkable. According to Risun Zhongran executives, the new network has boosted production efficiency by nearly 20% while reducing labor costs by approximately 30%. This advancement sets the stage for future innovations like autonomous driving and “one-button coking” operations.

AsiaInfo’s solution includes cutting-edge components like 5G core networks, base stations, CPEs, edge computing platforms, and intelligent connection products. Their approach emphasizes flexibility, allowing customers to select components that best match their specific requirements. The system eliminates traditional SIM card management fees and data charges, offering significant cost advantages.

Security remains paramount, with multiple protective mechanisms built into the infrastructure. The solution supports local core network deployment and complete physical isolation, ensuring data integrity and operational safety.

Looking ahead, AsiaInfo continues to refine its offerings and collaborate with industry partners, supporting the digital evolution of industrial operations across sectors. Their success with Risun Group demonstrates how 5G private networks can revolutionize traditional industries, creating safer, more efficient, and environmentally conscious production environments.
